We’re showcasing cutting-edge developments in engineered living materials and bioinspired technologies, supported by leading European and Slovenian research initiatives. Join us at LIGNA 2025 (26–30 May, Hannover, Germany), where InnoRenew CoE is proud to co-exhibit with Ledinek Engineering in Hall 27, Stand C20.
On 28 May 2025, REMEDY coordinator Anna Sandak participated in the Round Table discussion titled. Examples of Good Practices with Guests: A Moderated Discussion Featuring Short Presentations from Successful Project Applicants” during the EIC & EIT Info Day in Ljubljana. The event, co-organised by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and SPIRIT Slovenia, brought together a dynamic mix of innovators, entrepreneurs, and researchers keen to explore funding opportunities offered by the European Innovation Council (EIC) and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) programmes for 2025. During the discussion, Anna shared key insights from the REMEDY project journey, highlighting challenges, lessons learned, and strategies for success. She joined other accomplished Slovenian EIC grant holders in providing practical advice and inspiration for the next generation of applicants seeking to make an impact through innovative projects. We sincerely thank the organisers and fellow panelists for their valuable contributions. This event reinforced the importance of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continued innovation across the EU’s vibrant innovation ecosystem.
Dr. Anna Sandak, InnoRenew CoE Deputy director, was a featured speaker for the May edition of the INL Colloquia Series 2025, held in Braga, Portugal.
In her talk »Designing with life: engineering the next generation of building materials« she shared her visionary work on Engineered Living Materials (ELMs) — a new class of bio-integrated materials that bring adaptability, self-regeneration, and environmental responsiveness into the built environment.
She highlighted the groundbreaking research from two major EU-funded projects: ARCHI-SKIN, which develops living coating systems for buildings using fungal biofilms, and REMEDY, a new initiative exploring bespoke, living layers for architecture — so-called archibiome tattoos — that blend aesthetics with functionality.
The INL Colloquia Series 2025 is an inspiring monthly event that delves into cutting-edge science and engineering. It brings together high-level, visionary researchers who are pushing the boundaries of their fields. Each month explores a new theme, sparking fresh perspectives and lively discussions.
